Coach Cristina Teuscher

Cristina Teuscher

Born and raised in New York metro area, Cristina began swimming for the Badger Swim Club under the tutelage of John Collins. From 1994-2001, she was a member of the United States National Swim Team, representing the US in two Olympic Games: 1996 and 2000. Cristina won a gold medal in 1996 as part of the 4x200 Free relay, breaking the Olympic and American Record and swimming the fastest split in U.S. history. In 2000, she was voted one of the US Olympic Swim Team Captains and won a bronze medal in the 200 I.M. Cristina holds six national titles and retired from competitive swimming in 2001.

In 2000, Cristina graduated from Columbia University with a degree in psychology and an undefeated individual collegiate career, including four NCAA titles. In 2001, she won the Honda Broderick Cup, which is awarded to the top female collegiate athlete in the United States.

Cristina began practicing yoga to complement her competitive swimming and although long retired from swimming now, she credits yoga for helping her maintain the balance in her life. In the past nine years, Cristina has been influenced by both Vinyasa Yoga and alignment-based approaches, including Iyengar, Jivamukti and Ashtanga yoga. Cristina brings the self-nurturing she has learned through yoga to her lessons with her students. She is 200hr certified through YogaWorks, having studied under Natasha Rizopoulos.

In 2007, Cristina completed her MBA at INSEAD. Having worked in the fields of finance, start-ups, and education, Cristina is happy to be back to her roots in swimming and yoga.
