Coach Vic Brown

Vic Brown

Vic began his triathlon career in 2004 at Appalachian State University while earning his graduate degree in Exercise Science. He has competed in numerous endurance races, including more than a half dozen Half Ironman’s. In 2005, Vic completed his first Olympic and Half Ironman distance races. The following year, he ended his season by qualifying for the Boston Marathon in his first attempt at the Baystate Marathon (3:08:22). In 2007, Vic PR’d by 12 minutes at the Boston Marathon (2:56:31) and established a Half Marathon PR of 1:19:37 at the Lowell Sun Half Marathon in the fall.

With AG victories at the Patriot Half Ironman and FirmMan MA to highlight, Vic has since earned USA Triathlon All-American Honorable Mention honors and been named to the USAT All-Grand Prix Team while racing for the USAT-NE Region Club champions, Minuteman Road Club.

After season ending surgery in 2008, Vic moved over to road racing in 2009 where he currently races for Threshold Cycling, a Boston-based development cycling team, and is considered to be one of the most unselfish riders in the peloton. Known for his tireless engine, Vic will do the hard work to get his teammates on the podium. Look for Vic to make a strong comeback on the New England triathlon circuit next season.

A USAT-Level 1 certified coach, Vic currently enters his second season as the Head Coach of the Boston University Triathlon Team. In 2008, he led the Terriers to their second consecutive Northeast Collegiate Triathlon Conference (NECTC) team championship while helping guide Luca D’Alessio and Julia Duval to individual titles.

When not coaching with BPC, Vic is the Associate Head Strength and Conditioning Coach as Boston University and is considered to be a leading authority in the New England region on topics of athlete development, strength and conditioning, functional training, and general fitness. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Personal Trainer by the NSCA and Athletic Trainer Certified by the NATA. Vic has been a featured author and speaker for numerous publications including Triathlete Magazine, New England Sports Magazine, and at the Multisport World Conference and Expo.
